I’m raising as much money as I can to beat cancer in memory of my Dad.

My Story
I lost my loving dad to cancer in September 2016 after 9 hard months of fighting this horrible disease. He was treated with both chemotherapy and radio therapy which took a horrendous toll on his body. Sadly we were told that there was nothing more they could do and that treatment would not be continued. Hearing this news was very hard to take. What I found frustrating is that he was a perfectly healthy and very fit man who served 30 years in Lothian & Borders Fire Brigade and enjoyed his usual 50 mile cycle with his family every Sunday. In 1981 my Dad ran in the first ever Great North Run, and in tribute as the second anniversary of his death approaches, I have chosen to run the Great North Run as my very first half marathon. As well as the personal challenge of completing my first half marathon I will be running this in the memory of my dad and would love to raise as much as I can for Cancer Research UK. One day I hope that with the advancement of medicine, a cure can be found for this horrible disease and no one has to suffer losing someone they love.
