My Story
Cancer is happening right now. That is why I’m taking part in a Race for Life 5k. So many of us have been touched by this illness through friends, family, colleagues, or people we love. It’s so common that it almost becomes part of the background of life, until it suddenly isn’t. I have seen cancer up close. I have seen what end of life can look like. It is deep, humbling, and impossible to forget. Life and death are powerful teachers. They change how you see time, presence, and what truly matters. They also make one thing very clear: life is precious. I believe that with continued research and innovation, cancer does not have to remain a deadly illness. Many conditions that once felt terrifying are now treatable or curable. I choose to believe that cancer can follow the same path, into a future that holds more answers, more options, and more hope. I don’t work in the medical field, but I work closely with people. As a massage therapist, I see every day how much the body carries physically, emotionally, silently. I work with life, with healing, with presence. Supporting those who protect and extend life feels deeply aligned with who I am. Cancer research is not only about laboratories and discoveries. It is also about support for those going through it, and for the families who walk alongside them. This is my very first Race for Life, and my fundraising goal is £1,000. Not because I think numbers change everything, but because collective effort does. If this resonates with you, whether through donation, participation, or simply sharing, thank you. Every gesture matters. Thank you for taking the time to read this. And thank you for supporting life. 🤍
