My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1994 and hey ho- I’m still here !! It keeps coming back for another fight, and has even thrown leukaemia at me in 2017, but somehow I keep battling it off. I’m just about to embark on another round of chemo but I am lucky that so far I have managed to deal with it quite well 🤞🤞🤞. I’ve been doing the Race for Life each year since 2004 with my good friend June Newton who has always been a great support to me despite battling this annoying disease herself !

Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
