Hi Everyone...For those of you that know me well, you know that I already walk 3-5 miles everyday (which well covers the 10000 steps) and have done so for a couple of years now. I started walking in response to a need for a lifestyle change....Sitting at a computer working 10 hours a day, menopause/post menopause and generally poor diet due to tiredness is not good for the waistline and over all health. So in April 2018 at age 52 I bit the bullet, put a pair of trainees on and went out for a walk. I only walked for 15mins the first time but gradually increased the time and distance. I now walk approx 15 1/2 min per mile and usually do around 4 miles, so about an hours worth of walking everyday whatever the weather. I had no idea I would like it so much..50lb lighter, no headaches anymore from stress and lots more energy and most of all, it just makes me feel good.
So what a great idea to put my walking to good use and support cancer research. From March 1st my walks will have a new purpose each day...I have set a low target, I am not looking to break any records but every little helps.
