My Story
Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. This message suddenly became very real and personal in August 2017 when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I feel I have been on A Roller Coaster of a ride this year and now my treatment is done, I am feeling great, so it is time to say thank you to everyone who got on that journey with me!! I am doing this walk not only to help contribute to the vital research which meant my treatment could be targeted to give me the best chance of survival but especially to say an enormous thank you to everyone that got me through and kept me smiling. From first diagnosis, through Chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy, the NHS team has been amazing. So a huge thank you to the teams in York and Leeds. You do a wonderful job and save lives every single day. And of course there are my family and friends - sometimes I think it is tougher for them ( especially Callum, couldn't have done it without you), I never expected the love and support that I got and will never forget it (and a special shout out to a Major High St Bank - you know who you are - you supported my desire throughout to keep working!) So Callum and I are going to do a bit of training and get all sparkled up for our walk in October. If you could donate that would be great so we can beat this damn thing once and for all and let people get on with living!! Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK.
