My Story
Everyone I know has been affected by Cancer. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. My mum was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer in April 2014 and she passed away almost exactly a year later. There was nothing I could do. Nothing. I was powerless for a whole year whilst she struggled with the emotional and physical impact this disease had on her and our whole family. My mum's name was Margaret. She was 68 when she died. She was a lifelong Wigan Warriors fan and season ticket holder, a volunteer at Wigan & Leigh Hospice shop, she lived for her family and adored her Granddaughters. She was a retired home care, a friend, a reader, a Coronation Street superfan, a library user, a tea drinker and a wife of 43 years. I miss my mum every single day and whilst I know nothing will ever bring her back, but I hope that my small contribution might make a positive difference and that cure that we all need, is found.
