Georgina's Race for Life

My beautiful 6 year old daughter Amelie and I are raising money for Cancer Research UK on the 7th September we will be running in Pretty Muddy race. We are very excited and hope you will support us. Sadly both my granny and grandma lost their lives to the disease. It broke my heart having to watch them suffer in this way. Grete and Mary were wonderful grandmas and very special and extremely close to me all my life. I had never lost anyone and the whole experience was very upsetting and you never get over that. I didn’t really know a lot about cancer until then, and I now know that we should all try and help in some way we can so that Cancer Research can find new cures. Why should Cancer win and why should it take our loved ones away from us. Fitness is my greatest hobby and I love races. I have competed in many races and Amelie always wants to join so when I saw this race for children and parents I thought it was perfect. I hope it inspires her to raise money in the future. Last year I raised £4000 for Children with Cancer charity, another such wonderful charity who have helped so many children and their families. I organised 2 raffles and did a 5 course supper club at my family’s restaurant. I was over whelmed at the generosity of the people around me. So where will the money go that we will raise? The money will be split between research, early diagnostic work, more fund raising and their shop network. The shop newt work is crucial for awareness too. So please support Amelie and I to raise as much as we can. Sadly Amelies memory’s of my granny’s are so small and fade, as she’s so young, but I will remember them forever and this race I will be thinking of them every step of the way.
