Gemma's Race for Life At Home
Race for Life at Home
Sat 24 Apr 2021 - Mon 24 May 2021
My wonderful friend, Wendy, suggested getting a team together to do the 5km Race for Life challenge. This was a welcome idea as I had wanted to give something back for all the amazing support I have received throughout my treatment so far, but wasn't sure how to do it or what I'd be able to manage. 5km probably doesn't sound much (in fact, to me this time last year it would have been a doddle to run it) but the chemo treatment and surgery I've had means I'm not going to be running it this time around, but I'm going up the ante to a 10km energetic walk which will be challenging enough! I'm also grateful that I can do the challenge at all, as many many people with cancer have not been as lucky as I have.... So! Thank you for helping me in my quest to Give Back. Even just a quid will be most welcome if you can! Wendy wrote a lovely synopsis of my treatment/experience on our team page if you've not seen it already: https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/glitter-girl-gem A few pics are below of me throughout my treatment journey. And there's a special one of my sis and me circa 1987 where The Glitter Girls were borne and provided the team name for this Race for Life event! That's just a bonus pic ;)
