Shine London 2018 - Full Marathon

Sat 22 Sep 2018

I'm walking at Shine Night Walk in the fight to beat cancer in honour of my Mum.

In memory of

My Mum

My Story

My Mum died in April 2013 and I still feel the pain of her loss today. She was diagnosed with lung cancer that spread to her spine in Oct 2011, she fought bravely for 18 months, but unfortunately she lost the fight. I love and miss her every single day. I am taking part in the Shine Walk to support my Team Tring team mates and raise money for research that means other families can hold onto their loved ones for longer. Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.

CAUSE

Lung cancer

Each year more than 43,500 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK. We urgently need to drive progress so that more people survive their disease. Cancer Research UK is at the forefront in lung cancer research and is funding various projects to tackle the disease head on. This includes the TRACERx study, Cancer Research UK’s largest investment into lung cancer to date. This study has already transformed our understanding of how lung cancer evolves and is continuing to shed light on how to prevent, detect and treat the disease.
