My Story

I take photos for fun, it’s a skill I’m constantly developing, but over the years I’ve realized how powerful photography is – when I take a photo, I capture a moment and a memory is created. Sharing those moments has evoked many emotions in people and it’s provided special memories which can be held onto forever. I’ve captured events run by local sports clubs to help support them to grow, and last year whilst setting up for a cycling club event, I took a shot of a legend who was out on their morning ride. It was an "ordinary" shot, taken to test the light and settings, one that would normally have been discarded. That shot turned out to be the most impactful photo I took all year. It was a ride they did not finish. Tragically they had an accident and did not make it home. The reaction, the thanks and the emotion that one shot triggered, altered my perspective on the photos I take. I have always provided my images for free, however having received an increased number of offers for payment (which has never been my objective) I decided to create a fundraising page so that my photos can help fund a worthy cause. There is no obligation or suggested donation amount, but if you would like to donate I, and everyone at Cancer Research UK, would be hugely grateful. The ratio of people who will have cancer in some form seems to increase year on year, like everyone else, I know this all too well, so this was the obvious choice of charity for me. Every donation increases the ability of Cancer Research UK to ensure there are more opportunities to create precious memories.
