Coming together to fight breast cancer!
Cancer is something that affects so many lives every single day. As a community we've done our part across the years raising money for important but personal causes and this is no different. Breast cancer specifically is something that has been close to home for us and has affected both Ethan & Tyler's lives. "Back in June 2019, my mother (Kathy) was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer, thus beginning a very difficult journey for us all as a family, one we endured in good spirits. But I'd be lying if I said there weren't moments of frustration, emotion & uncertainty. Fortunately thanks to the advancements made through cancer research, Mum's condition was treatable, and now after her chemotherapy, surgery & radiotherapy, I am more than pleased to say that she is well and truly on the mend. To me, this event is for her, and everyone else affected by Breast Cancer. Past, present & future. Together, if our community effort can even just save one more life, it'll all be worth it" - Ethan, Fizhy “Breast Cancer is something that has directly impacted my family more than once. In 2010, on my mother’s 44th birthday, she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It was a very difficult time in my family’s lives, but we stuck through it together. Through many ups and downs, both pre op and post op, my mother and my family made it through. I am happy to say my mother has been 10 years cancer free as of this past October, which I am beyond grateful for. For the doctors, nurses, family and friends. If there’s anything I’ve learnt from the experience it’s that support is everything. Being there for someone when they need it the most. My mother has demonstrated that more than anyone I know. My mother’s Cancer took a lot out of her, but she became such an amazing support for her friends afterwards, when they’ve gone through their own tough times these last 10 years. This lesson I have tried to take from my mother, which in 2018 we needed when my Nan was diagnosed with Breast Cancer also. Now my Nan lives in whoop whoop (middle of nowhere), so after her surgery, through her recovery and subsequent radiation, my aunts, uncle and my mother and I took turns travelling down to her to look after her. Though it felt like her looking after us sometimes. For a woman in her 80’s my Nan is one tough lady! I’m so grateful to say I still have both my Mother and my Nan in my life and anything I can do to give back and support others going through the same thing I will. To have the Four Pillars community get involved in something like this. Something so personal to me is quite an emotional thing for me. Together we have achieved so much with our past charity events. What everyone did getting involved for the Bushfire relief in Australia absolutely warmed my heart. And to be able to get together again, in a bigger way than ever before is incredible! Let’s do what we do best and help make a difference to those who need it.” - Tyler, Tynamite Breast cancer doesn't have to define lives anymore. Thanks to cancer research, beating it is possible but this needs funding in any way that it can, no matter how big or small, we're stepping up to do our part to help further the research that saved the lives of our loved ones. Thus our charity event: #GamersAgainstCancer, organised & co-run by The Four Pillars & Conbrosations will feature us gaming our socks off in order to raise the money to help save lives. Our initial goal is to raise £15,000 for this cause. It is important to us, and so many others whose lives have been changed by cancer. Together, let's channel our experiences into something positive, help save lives and get some double XP in the process!

CAUSE
Breast cancer
With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
