Big Hike - Full Marathon 2026

My Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Giving Page. This year I am taking part in Big Hike to help power progress for people affected by cancer. Please donate to my Giving Page and help me take big steps to beat cancer. Having been diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in June 2023,i have battled through the barrage of debilitating chemotherapy drugs and abdominal surgery, determined to beat this disease. Thanks to great teams at Colchester and Ipswich hospitals i have acheived stable remission .....and got my hair back😄. I raised money for the local hospitals last year, this year i am aiming to do as many of the Cancer Research UK Big hikes that i can. I have pushed myself back to fitness, and beyond, and am ready to raise as much money as i can to aid continued research. "TOGETHER WE WILL BEAT CANCER",but only if funding allows the amazing research and treatments to continue. " one in two of us will get cancer" Lets keep funding those clever scientist who ARE continuing to discovering cures. Trossach Big Hike,26 miles here I come.....🚶‍♀️😄. ........will be followed by Peaks Big Hike Jurassic coast Big Hike Lake District Big Hike.... Have just completed the Peak District Big Hike, along with many many people all with a personal story. I was hiking for Julia this time, family member recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and wishing her all the best..Diagnostics are becoming quicker and detailed, which then prompts a more focussed treatment plan. Continuing to fundraise. My efforts will continue next with the Jurassic Coast Hike.,showing we/ I can beat cancer and can recover to endure these physical challenges. Today was my 3rd challenge with a 26 mile Big Hike on the Jurassic Coast . A damp and drizzly start and much of the hike in the mist off The Channel. Poor visibilty dampened the views but not the spirit of other fundraisers .Once more hearing stories of sadness but also many of hope and cure . Cancers ugly presence continues to affect many of us, but with the continued amazing work by Cancer Research UK, it is beginning to get beaten . Please continue to support the cause even if its just a small donation. Completed my 4th Bike Hike at the weekend in the beautiful Lake District. There were 3 waves of 26 mile hikers as well as many many more for the 13 miles and 10 K. Again so many people helping the cause in memory of or in thanks for cancer sufferers.Happened to be the same weekend HRH princess Kate was doing a challenge for her hospital for the care she had through her recent cancer( same time as me)..Unfortunately didnt see her, probably as I was walking too fast🤣 . Anyway many people were out on the fells for similar charitable cause. The 4 challenges have been a wonderful experience, exhausting rushing about the country on my days off but a huge boost to confidence in that, with a bit of luck and determination we can recover from cancer. Thanks to all my friends and family for their generous donations.
