My Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. I'm not the only one. This is important to understand. People worldwide just like me have been effected in some way by cancer. I moved to the city of Sheffield when I was really young. Life was exciting and fresh until mum fell ill. She took regular visits to her GP who didn't understand what was wrong with her for a while. After several blood tests she was called to the hospital which meant something wasnt right. I'll never forget the day or the emotions or the silence when we knew. It all seemed like too much but I knew personally I had to be there for her to whatever end. She struggled with stairs so we relocated to a bungalow, she struggled to move around and do daily tasks she was so used to doing. I made the decision (perhaps the wrong one) to bring myself out of school to take care of her the best I could. The battle went on for months and it still has an effect on her now though she has come through and battled to her best ability. I could never be more proud of my mum for not giving up when I'm sure really wanted to sometimes. Years passed and mum was good. She found herself the home she always wanted and enjoyed life. She even took care of her grandkids for reasons that don't relate to this story but It wasn't long until the bad news struck again. Nan this time, breast cancer which resulted in her having one removed and little did we know it had spread to her lung and made life for her turn on its head. I hate to say it but I've not seen much of her. The idea of seeing her in so much pain at the minute is tipping me to breaking point but I know I have to make the most of it incase the worst happens. I want to do this fundraising for both of their sakes whether it's too late for nan or not but also for the millions of other people who suffer these vile and vicious diseases.
