Shine London 2019 - Half Marathon

In memory of
Amanda Glynn
We are taking part in the Cancer Research Night Shine UK walk to honour Amanda Glynn, a truly fabulous woman who sadly passed away in January 2019, almost 4 years after being diagnosed with cancer. Lauren (her daughter), Emma (her sister) and myself (her mate) will walk 13 MILES through London, THROUGH THE NIGHT. Effectively we are pulling an all nighter without the club, without alcohol and with a lot of exercise required! We plan to spend those 13 miles remembering Amanda, the stories, the eccentricities and her spirit. We know that she would be telling us that we really didn't need to do this and not to make a fuss, while being secretly smug that we hadn't forgotten her (as if!). During the four years Amanda did every single thing she could to prolong her life so that she could be around as long as possible for Lauren. She never stopped looking for the answer. She passed away in an alternative treatment facility in Turkey; she had flown out despite being very ill to trial an alternative route. We all know that we need to get to a point whereby we have a cure for cancer and that's why we are asking people to sponsor us to complete this challenge, to support Cancer Research UK in their life saving work. Anything you can give will be appreciated and help spur us through the night. And, as a Brucey Bonus, my employer Lloyds Banking Group will match every £ raised up to the value of £500. CANCER RESEARCH UK Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
