My Story
Friday 13th January 2013 my mom was diagnosed with Cancer. I will never forget that day as the world around me suddenly turned black. When people think cancer they automatically think of death. And I was also guilty of this. Over the previous weeks I watched my mom become ill tired and loose so much weight. A shell of what she was. On being moved to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, she was operated on the fit a colostomy bag to her tummy and her bowel rerouted to this. I watched as she battled gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Arched how some days she would struggle. But the bravery she shown and the courage was amazing. She became stronger and the therapies worked. Her tumour shrunk and she kicked cancers butt. To see my mom start to become the happy bubbly person she was before was one of the best times of my life. I'd taken her for granted before as we are all guilty of, it took something so evil to happen to her for me to realise she is too precious and too special for me to loose. She is my mom but she is also my best friend. I was lucky as I got to keep my mom, others aren't so lucky. So I'm doing this for my mom but also the survivors and the angels that cancer has taken.
