Hi, I’m Flo 👋🏼 and I’ve decided to take on the challenge of running the London Marathon this April in aid of Cancer Research and in loving memory of my Uncle David. Last year, my Uncle David was diagnosed with two primary cancers, one on his lungs and the other in his brain - a fast-growing and the most aggressive form brain tumour in adults known as Glioblastoma (GBM). Since setting up this page, my Uncle has sadly lost his fight against cancer, so I will now be running in his memory. My Uncle David was passionate about sports from a young age and dedicated his career to it, including teaching for many years and then managing a sports centre in West Wales. He ran the Half Marathon in Aberdare in 1982, also raising money for Cancer Research, completing it in an incredible time of 1.21, followed by the Cardiff Marathon a few years later. This has inspired me to complete my own marathon to support the vital work Cancer Research continues to do to help others fight against cancer. Picture this: a person whose idea of a marathon used to be binge-watching the entire Harry Potter series in one sitting. Now, that same person is attempting to conquer 26.2 miles of London's streets on foot. So, join me on this epic adventure, as I navigate the chaos of training, avoid potholes in the road (literally and metaphorically), and attempt to turn my newfound enthusiasm for running into a force for good, all in memory of my inspiring Uncle David Saralis. Thank you for your support. Flo x
