My Story
Event Details Date: 5th and 6th of September 2024 Purpose: Gathering donations to procure services and materials necessary for the fund raising venture to support cancer research in the UK The Classic Cheap Car Challenge Picture this: participants hunting for a car under £500, hoping it's more roadworthy than a stubborn mule. Our aim is to raise as much as we can for cancer research UK by way of carrying out the classic cheap car challenge as carried out by Top Gear's legends in The Grand Tour. Remember, only small-ish hatchbacks allowed - because who needs legroom on an adventure, right? Scores will be gathered and totted up at the end to reveal one winner. All to be recorded and put out on YouTube like an episode of the show, to which we are paying homage. Event Activities - Road trip shenanigans - Timed laps (or as we like to call them, "racing against the clock and our questionable engines") - Drag races (more like "dragging our cars to the finish line") And the best part? The winner gets bragging rights that might just outlast their car! A Tribute to Motoring Legends This event is our way of saying, "Thanks for the laughs, Clarkson, Hammond, and May - now watch us try to be as chaotic as you guys!" Meet Our Cast Flop Gear Presents... Mikey Fartson, Bob Gray, Max Rammond & The Sprig A group of 'normal' guys all in it for the laughs and most importantly to raise money and awareness for CRUK. Check out their profiles on our website and find out why they're getting involved: www.thegrandtrip.uk/the-cast Sponsors We couldn't have started this journey without the sponsors we've already got on board. Cancer has touched the lives of so many we walk beside on a daily basis and we couldn't be more grateful for the support we've encountered. If you think you can sponsor us in more ways than a small donation and would like to be showcased on our journey, please do get in touch: www.thegrandtrip.uk/#contact If you'd prefer to donate directly to Cancer Research UK, then you’re in the right place! Ready, Set, Go! So, buckle up, start those engines (what do you mean it wont start?), and let's drive towards a future where cancer research gets the support it deserves - one clunky car at a time!
