My Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I’m doing 30 minutes of yoga every day in June to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. I am going to be honest there are some very good reasons why I am not the type of person that should have signed up to this yoga challenge. Firstly I don’t do yoga, neither do I have any other kind of fitness routine to speak of. Walking the dog can't really be considered a fitness plan, can it? In addition, I would say that I am often hard pushed to find half an hour every day for any kind of regular practice of anything. However, here are the reasons why I have signed up and I hope that you will agree that they beat the reasons not to. The day before this challenge begins is my birthday, it isn’t a significant birthday in that it doesn't end in a zero but like many other people I have lost people close to me due to cancer and I have come to realise that every birthday is a significant birthday. I am still here, I am still able to spend time with the people that I care most about, make memories with my lovely family and friends, maybe even make a difference in my own little way to some people. I have lost friends and family way too soon, I am sure that you have too. Time is precious that's for sure. If I can practice yoga for half an hour every day for thirty days then by the end of June I may be slightly healthier (in body and mind) and with your kind donations I hope that we will have raised some funds for Cancer Research. The work they do can lead to cancers being detected earlier, being treated more successfully and to survival rates being higher. When I took part in Pretty Muddy for Cancer Research a few years ago now my Uncle and a dear friend were both fighting cancer, they were on my race dedication bib. Since then they have both sadly passed away and are very missed but I am convinced that the important work of the cancer charities in regards to treatments and care gave them precious time. If you can, please show your support and help fund life-saving research by donating to my page. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Namaste, Fliss x
