I am taking part in Race for Life to show my support to my friend of over 25 years and her family. Some of you may know Carly as my cousin as we spent most of our youth joined at the hip telling people we were. Sadly Carly’s Mum Amanda Regan (Mandy) was diagnosed with terminal cancer in the summer of 2015 and tragically lost her battle 17 months after being diagnosed. Mandy was like an auntie to me throughout my childhood and I have such lovely memories of her growing up from the many holidays we shared, the endless parties Mandy and my mum had to the simple things like crumpets with lots of butter for breakfast. Like many others Carly has had to not only deal with her own sadness but that of her daughter’s too. I have seen nothing but strength and courage in Carly throughout this difficult time and am so proud to call her my friend. Sadly this is the story of many people all over the world so please, please, please dig deep and show your support not only for Carly and her family but for every family dealing with this awful illness. Lets kick cancer’s butt!
