My Story
When I was 15 I lost my mum to breast cancer. It was awful to watch what cancer did to her and the effect of losing my mum, at such a young age, dramatically changed my life. My two sisters have and are both fighting breast cancer at the moment, but are doing well. It is something that impacts me everyday and is never far from my thoughts. Unfortunately this occurrence is not uncommon and is why I choose in taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money For those that know me, you know that I do not run and so i am taking on a real challenge that will hurt a lot but allows me to make a small contribution to hopefully prevent others going through what I experienced. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Cancer is complex. There are over 200 types of cancer, most of which have different biology and behaviour. With your support, our dedicated researchers can continue to discover better ways to prevent, detect and treat this disease, and bring about a world where everybody lives longer, better lives, free from the fear of cancer.
