My Story
Cancer is a group of diseases which affects many - whether an individual is personally diagnosed or has a relative/friend that is. Although cancer is more treatable, according to statistics over the last decade, head and neck cancer mortality rates have increased by 14% in the UK. Similarly there are 163,444 deaths in the UK per year as a result of cancer - with someone being diagnosed every 2 minutes. It is easy to forget the severity of cancer until we or someone we love has to face it. At the end of last year my dad was diagnosed with mouth cancer and will soon undergo radiotherapy and chemotherapy from 28th January to the 8th March. As a result I have decided to raise money for the charity because thanks to research and new discoveries of treatment (which would not be possible without funding) my dad has a 19-59% survival rate.
