Lands end to John o' Groats hike

Thu 5 Aug 2021 - Wed 20 Oct 2021

Challenge to hike and wild camp from the bottom to the top of Great Britain

My Story

I will be attempting the southwest to northwest hike traversing the whole length of Great Britain, wild camping along my way with the odd hostel for rest. Set to take me over 2 months across more than 1,200 miles. Beginning at Lands End in Cornwall. I'll be making my way along the picturesque west coat into exmoor then onto Wales. Following north up the river Wye and along the Brecon Beacons to my first summit and set goal of Snowdon. Coming down to the north Wales coast and going East into middle England where I'll be aiming for Scafell Pike next, my second goal and summit. If still breathing. I'll be continuing up north and rolling through Carlisle and Glasgow taking me onto the famous West Highland way all the way up to Fort William and my final summit, Ben Nevis, you get the gist now xD. The next section of the route depends on how I feel and how the weather fairs. As either I’ll take the route across the very remote northern highlands, or a safe and comfortable East coast trail. All roads lead to Rome, or rather John o' Groats, I hope... Due to the insane and quite nuts duration and distance of this hike, situations could arise where I may not be able to finish it in one go. Injuries, weather, etc. As such is the nature of this being a challenge. If you would rather wait to donate, to see if I complete it, that is completely fine and understandable. The page will remain up till early November. Why Cancer research? The pandemic has taken a heavy toll on cancer research, from financial aid to research personnel. Subsequently, this has meant the original pre-pandemic goal set out of 3 in 4 people surviving cancer by 2034 could be seriously reduced. For more information on this visit: https://news.cancerresearchuk.org/2020/12/08/cancer-research-uk-forced-to-cut-research-funding-due-to-covid-19/ I have specifically chosen to raise money towards the early diagnosis of cancer. Which could not only significantly improve survival rates but quality of life as well. I know money can be tight, but any donations no matter how small will mean a great deal. Even if you aren't able to donate, sharing the fundraiser carries it along way :) If you wish to follow me along my journey, updates will be posted here. Thank you.
