Emma's Race for Life

My Dad was taken from us too soon, on 24th March 2019, aged 58 and having beaten cancer once, this time unfortunately he could not beat it. Dad was a farmer, a father, a husband and a friend to many. He always put a smile on everyone’s face and would have a terrible Dad joke to brighten up your day. Seven years ago he was diagnosed with lymphoma, with the help of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and his strength and courage he went into remission. He was later diagnosed with a second cancer, bladder cancer. Determined to fight once again his treatment appeared to be working. Unfortunately the cancer escaped to his spine and bones. Dad could not have fought any harder and was set on getting back on his combine this summer, but unfortunately that was not to be. His last week was filled with laughter and tears. He could not have been more loved, and could not be more missed. His strength and determination was an inspiration to us all. Anyone that knows me knows how much I hate running, but Ed and I are going to get hot, sweaty and very muddy in aid of Cancer Research UK. And come September Ed will be running the Northampton half marathon in memory of Dad. Every pound raised will go towards life saving cancer research and hopefully one day stop any more families going through the torture of having their loved ones taken soon.
