My Story
I'm only too aware that Cancer is happening right now. At the start of 2019 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. I am a young mum of two girls. I've always maintained a healthy lifestyle and if there was a healthy bandwagon I was on it! However, cancer doesn't care about that. It is indiscriminate. It doesn't care about your hopes and dreams. It swoops in and turns your life upside down. Dealing with bowel cancer is scary, facing your own mortality is terrifying. I want to be here for my girls, husband and family. Yet, I know that this cancer could rob me of that. At this present time I am in the middle of chemo and with that comes a whole host of challenges, both physical and mental. Chemo can make you feel as if you aren't in control of your body. This race is me reclaiming control of my life. This is me telling Phyllis (my bowel tumour) to piss off! I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives, and I want to make my family proud, especially my two girls. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now.
