In memory of
Martyn Matthews
I'm running in memory of my husband Martyn Matthews, who died of Bowel Cancer at the age of 34. I miss him every day and my life will never be the same without him, but I can embrace all he taught me and make the most of every minute of everyday. He always looked on the bright side of life and stayed positive throughout his terminal diagnosis at the age of 31. Read more about Marty at www.memoriesofmarty.co.uk When a loved one is diagnosed with a disease, your life is completely transformed - dreams are broken. You meander through a myriad of unwanted emotions and are sent on a testing and very scary rollercoaster. You find yourself reflecting on your ‘previous’ life – one untarnished by cancer – and punish yourself. My wishes and dreams of the life I once had have changed forever and my overall life dream now is to be the best person I can be; to love, laugh and enjoy life to the max. Thank you to everyone that has always shown me the support and love that I have desperately needed to carry on living. Cancer is happening right now and is effecting so many lives... so let's do something! 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work. Where does your money go? Each step we make towards beating cancer relies on each pound donated. Here are some examples of how the money you donate can help - £20 covers the cost of running Cancer Chat for one hour - £30 is the cost of running a cervical cancer trial for one day - £80 buys a bunsen burner which can help our scientists to ignite ground-breaking research - £300 can pay for special chemicals called antibodies, to light up microscopic parts of the cell .
