Emma's Race for Life
Liverpool Pretty Muddy 5k 2018

In memory of
Mary Carole Fuller
Last year I ran my second 'Race for Life'. My cousin Bec and I took things fairly seriously with the training. Religiously running at least twice, if not 3 times a week, but we were really committed. The commitment paid off however when we completed the 5K race in 34 minutes and 22 seconds! Woop! We felt great when we did it. We felt that we had achieved something personally, become a fair bit fitter and had raised so much money for such a worthy cause. It was made even more special as my auntie Cal, whom we were running in honour of, surprised us by coming to the race to cheer us on! As I have mentioned in the past I run for all those close to me whom have been affected by cancer, those who have fought and won, those still fighting like my fabulous and beautiful auntie Cal, who I’m immensely proud of and those who have fought bravely but have been taken by cancer. Thinking particularly of my auntie Carole who passed away on 20th April 2018, after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just 3 weeks previously. It was awful to witness again first-hand what cancer can do. It is truly a cruel disease. This time we are running the ‘Pretty Muddy’ event. We thought it would be a bit of a laugh, but it will definitely be a bit of a challenge. When I read about training for the event it said that it is a bit more intense than running it. :S I also looked at previous years photos and discovered the ‘A-Frame’. Yes, that’s the only bit that worries me. I hope to be able to get up and over that A-Frame to kick cancer’s butt! One of my favourite quotes is ‘be the change you want to see in the world’. Let's do that by donating. Let’s get Cancer Research the money it needs to help get rid of this disease once and for all! Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life Pretty Muddy to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
