2021 Great Manchester Run Half Marathon
Sun 26 Sep 2021 - Sun 26 Sep 2021
At the end of July, just three months after losing my Nana to cancer, we were dealt the devastating blow that my Dad also has terminal cancer. Despite being extremely poorly, he has had life saving major surgery and will soon be starting chemo in a bid to try and get things under control. In a bid to get something positive out of this shit storm I am running the Great Manchester Run half marathon for Cancer Research. It’s a distance way out of my comfort zone and I’ve only 7 weeks to train, so there’s no time for injuries. My motivation is to do something my Dad can be proud of and to honour my Nans memory (I think he’ll be more impressed with the abstinence from alcohol than the training!), and also to raise as much money as possible to help find a cure for this dreadful disease. 1 in 2 of us will now get Cancer, so we really are all in this together.
