Shine London 2018 - Full Marathon

Sat 22 Sep 2018

I'm walking the London Shine Night Walk to help raise funds for breast cancer research

My Story

My world changed forever, when on 28th November 2017 I became one of the 140 women a day diagnosed with breast cancer (late stage) at the age of 41. Since then, I have received chemotherapy, antibodies, undergone surgery and completed a course of radiotherapy. I will be eternally grateful for the drugs I continue to receive which are currently keeping the disease under control and for the talented scientists who researched and developed them. Whilst we may not yet have a cure, research is ongoing in the hope that one day we will have. Great progress has been made: overall, cancer survival rates have doubled in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. No one wants to see their daughter, mother, aunt, wife, grandmother suffer from this disease. A cure is the goal. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with Cancer Research UK. Please support me in supporting this worthy cause. Thank you x

CAUSE

Breast cancer

With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.
