My Story
1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. I never expected to get cancer, who does? At 43 I wasn’t planning on this. It was a big year, not a lot of sleep, lots of tears and no energy. Chemo brain was generally amusing but I worried I’d never be myself again, a useful mother and not be able to return to work as a doctor. 8 months from finishing active treatment and I’m back at work and enjoying life enormously! I’ve learnt to notice and take time to enjoy all the simple joys in life. Cancer isn’t a great thing to happen to you but it’s not all bad. I’ve learnt a lot about myself, that my husband really does love me. He filled all the gaps in me when I needed him most - thank you Damian. x I also have a clearer view on what I want to achieve in life. First thing is I want is to run this race with my 3 daughters Marie,Thérèse and Anna, my mum Kath-who is also a breast cancer survivor, my sister, Rebecca, 2 nieces, Lizzy and Alice, mother in law Margaret (aka nana Tolan) and dear generous friends who I couldn’t have managed without their time, cooked meals, lifts for kids, prayers, encouraging texts, cards of support and endless coffee and tea drinking. I am also grateful for all the research that meant I had the best treatment and symptom management, I’ll never meet the people that bothered to study those things. But a massive thank you xxx Please donate to help the next in line xxxxxx
