My Story
I’m running for my Grandad, who is currently fighting prostate cancer. He has been through the hardest few years, recovering from a shock cardiac arrest and suffering from various arthritic attacks leaving him unable to walk and do the day to day tasks. The attacks led to Grandad having a number of blood tests which picked up on his counters being at an abnormal rate, which resulted in numerous scans and tests for cancer. The tests were sent to the wrong department within the hospital and sat unread for 8 months. After months of us constantly chasing, the hospital realised what had happened and the results showed that Grandad was positive for prostate cancer. He decided to have surgery and we thought it was all over. However, in July 2022 we unexpectedly lost Granny, Grandad’s loving wife of over 45 years. And a few weeks later the results of the surgery showed the cancer wasn’t successfully removed. Grandad decided to have radiotherapy and is currently going through treatment and fighting cancer every day. After 6 weeks of daily sessions we hope he will be cancer free🤞🏼❤️He is the most special and best Grandad I could ever ask for, he means the world to all of us 🤍
