My Story
Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page, it means a lot to me that you are here. I am running my first ever half marathon to raise money for Cancer Research UK. I have set the fundraising goal of £500, but I would love for you to help me smash that goal and raise as much as possible for this wonderful charity. Like so many of us I have lost a family member to cancer, and each year more family, family friends, and personal friends are diagnosed and are fighting cancer. CRUK is pivotal in providing funding for the pioneering research that will help us fight cancer by improving diagnosis, extending and saving lives, as well as raising awareness, informing government decisions, and more. CRUK receives no government funding so relies entirely on investors and public donations to fund their goal of beating cancer sooner. I am no running enthusiast, in fact, I used to actively avoid running if I could help it especially when I was younger… Although I have marginally come round to the idea of running as an adult, the furthest I have ever run (as of signing up) was an inflatable 5K back in September - and only then was persuaded to take part as it was an inflatable course and who can say no to bouncing around on inflatables?! So why a half marathon? I want to do something big to raise money for charity that I would never ordinarily take on, a challenge that would ask a lot of me so I can now ask a lot of you by asking you to donate your precious coins, a challenge that shows just how much this cause means to me. I will be running to honour my nan, who was the funniest most wonderful nan I could have ever dreamed of, to celebrate the strength of those currently battling cancer, and to raise money to fund the amazing researchers that are carrying out such outstanding work. Please donate as little or as much as you can to support the fight against cancer
