Elsie's Race for Life

Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. For years, I have supported, admired and donated to other people raising money for Cancer Research. This year, I have finally plucked up the courage (with the help of my wonderful friend, Charlotte) to do my bit! Cancer is a relentless, unforgiving and evil disease that has sadly touched the lives of many people I love either directly or through losing someone they care about. In 2006, it took my gorgeous, glamourous Granny far too early and too quickly, taking some magic from our world. Then last year, we lost my absolute legend of a Grandad to the same disease. Now, knowing my grandad, if he knew I was doing this he would probably ask me why on Earth I would want to run around a park when I could just donate money and be done with it, but 2017 then took more special people from this world due to cancer, and it has motivated me to do more than just donate to others when the issue has hit me and people I care about so heartbreakingly. Those of you who know me well know that I have had a long standing love/hate relationship with any form of physical exercise, so I am hoping the funny idea of me voluntarily running 5k is enough to make you donate even just 1 penny!
