I’m running this year in honour of my mammar! She was the most amazing person I’ve ever known who sadly lost her battle, she put up one hell of a fight until the very end! No matter how bad it got she would still laugh and joke with us, reminisce and look back on the good times. She loved her family and would do anything she could to help us out, whether that be giving us bus fare or a hosting our weekly sleepovers, helping us to remember that things get better or counting the penny jars. We spent as much time with mammar as possible which wasn’t always easy with the coronavirus restrictions but we did the best we could. It’s been the toughest year for all of us but she showed us how to be strong and battle on like the warrior she was. Mammar, you taught us so much about life, how to treat people and how to walk away when things are too difficult (like jigsaws). You always helped us solve our problems no matter how petty they were. That’s why I’m running this year, in honour of my mammar and for all those who are fighting for their lives against this terrible disease and those who have sadly lost that battle.
