Ellen's Race for Life

In October 2020 I lost my mum to pancreatic cancer. After her diagnosis I watched the unbelievable effect it had not only on my mum, me and my brothers but our wider family and friends. It was like a raging fire spreading through our lives. Consuming our thoughts, conversations and creating memories that would leave behind huge scars that will never quite heal. I would hear people say to mum ‘don’t give up the fight’, ‘You have to stay positive’ that incredibly hard when you’ve been given just months to live. However, my mum did just that. She didn’t complain once, She bravely shared her wishes and prepared us the best she could for the inevitable. As a mother myself, the hardest thoughts I’m left with is what my mum must have felt and the thoughts she would of had knowing she was leaving us (her children). Me and my brothers still have each other- she on the other hand was going to come to the end of her cancer journey alone. My mum Sadly passed away on October 15th 2020. Please help me raise money so similar families to ours have the support and care needed in what it a excruciatingly painful time. So that other strong women, men and children have the chance to treatment. In the hope that their journey means they don’t have to leave their loved ones. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
