So this year my daughter Elle may asked me to if she could do the race for life in memory of her grandad . we lost her grandad , my dad on the 13th of February 2013.in July 2012 he was diagnosed with lung cancer. He battled to fight the disease with chemo and radiotherapy but became ill very quickly and was admitted to hospital just after Christmas 2013 . My dad received the most wonderful care from the staff on HDU ward at chesterfield royal hospital and they gave him his wish to die at home with his family. His fight stayed with him right until the end and he got home despite being told he would not make it there . He was a wonderful man who loved his family but this disease took him away from us way too early . We all miss him very much . Since the loss of my dad there has been many more new treatments available which who knows means he could of still been with us today , we need to keep raising money for cancer research so they can continue there search on finding that cure so then non of us will have to lose our loved ones no more .
