Brighton 10k 2017

Sat 1 Jul 2017

I'm doing this for Catherine who should be enjoying being a young mum, but is battling bowel cancer.

My Story

Please help us to support Catherine - by sponsoring us on our first ever 10k run. We are a group of five school friends who've done everything together, from growing up (ish), to hanging out, eating, drinking, crying and laughing (lots). Now one of us is going through hell, and the other four want to show her our solidarity and support at this toughest time of her life, and that of her young family. Catherine is battling Stage Three bowel cancer. She was diagnosed in March and now faces major surgery and many months of chemotherapy. What she should be doing at this stage of her life is teaching, and being Mummy to her two beautiful children: Carla who's six and Max who is just twenty months. We know that us running 10k won't make Catherine better (though we hope it'll make her laugh). But we want to do something in her name to raise awareness of this hideous, cruel disease, and above all to raise funds to help fight it. Please please give what you can to sponsor us, and support us as we try to be there for Catherine, John, Carla and Max. While she fights bravely, the least we can do is run for her.

Our work has helped double cancer survival in the UK in the last 50 years. Despite this incredible progress, there’s more to be done. Nearly 1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime. Help us carry out world-class research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer.
