Duxford Soap Box Derby Race Entry Fee Payment

Here we go again, now in its seventh year, the inspiration for this annual event is Pam Hill, a long standing resident of Duxford who sadly lost her husband to cancer in 2013. Pam and some friends who had also lost loved ones to cancer, decided to commemorate their passing with an event that would both bring the village together and raise essential funds for Cancer Research in the Cambridge area. So the Duxford Soapbox Derby was born in 2013. A wonderful chaotic dash around the village by would be grand prix stars racing in anything from a wheelbarrow to an old iron bath. The fancy dress adds to the colour and hilarity. There are 2 races one for children and one for the grown ups, although everyone is a kid on September 1st. Whilst the races are the focus of the day for fund raising, money also comes from an auction and raffle which takes place after the dust has settled and the coveted trophies awarded at the Plough finishing line. There will be fund raising events throughout the year culminating with the soapbox derby on the 1st September. Last year the village raised £11,700 bringing the total amount raised since 2013 to £51,600! Anything you can contribute to help us fundraise for this important cause would be much appreciated.
