My Story
My reason for taking part in this year’s Race for Life is a purely personal one. Following a routine mammogram in January 2022 I was diagnosed with HER2+ Breast cancer. During the last year I have undergone 2 operations to remove the cancer, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and I currently receiving 3 weekly injections of Herceptin which is a targeted therapy anti cancer drug. Throughout my journey I have received such wonderful support from my family and friends and I have nothing but praise for Southend hospital not only for the treatment I have received but also for the care and compassion shown to me by all of the staff during what has been a truly traumatic and harrowing year for me. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and we can never tell what life has in store for us and, as a survivor, I want to help raise money for Cancer Research Uk. I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page and read my story. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now as your donation will help make a difference .
