My Story

For the last 5 years September has meant Shine and walking! It started with the marathon round London in the dark! Then came the Cambridge 10K and this year I would have added the Norwich 10K to the list. Sadly all these events have been cancelled but I plan to still walk the same distance locally in September. But I shall change the boot laces for the flashing ones and head out onto the streets. That is a total of 62km or if you prefer 39 miles but I plan to walk them as two 10k and 2 half marathons. This year being able to get out and walk kept me sane when everything else changed and the weather has mainly been kind with only the odd damp day! I am hoping that reasonable weather continues at least for another month. Each year I have also walked in memory of a friend who has lost the cancer battle or someone who has won the battle but this year cancer has got closer to home, in a year when life has changed for so many of us, we have been reminded that other illnesses still get diagnosed. 11.09.2020 Under a clear blue sky Norwich looked lovely this morning! One of the two 10k walks done! 17.09.2020 Today was round 2 - half a marathon walked (actually it was 14.6 miles) round most of the outer ring road of Norwich. I last walked this with the Starlight walk which is how I got started on longer walks but I had forgotten how steep Harvey Lane is! I was pleased I went out early and before the day warmed up too much! 24.09.2020 It was a mixed weather half marathon walk today! Started in drizzle which turned to rain and then. the sun came out! Thankfully it then stayed out! Fingers crossed for the weather tomorrow - final 10K. 25.09.2020 And so to the final Norwich 10K. It was wet, wet and windy today! I got soaked but so pleased to have completed my target! Not so many photos today, my fingers were too cold and I wanted to keep the phone dry. I missed the mile markers for the half marathons and the km markers for the 10K, as well as lots of other people to walk with! Hopefully next year will be back to normal!
