Doing it for our Oxy!

For those of you who know us, you know that most of us don’t do any exercise and especially don’t do running -we would rather miss the bus or the train than run, as it involves trying to co-ordinate running with holding our bum, belly and boobs at the same time!!! So why are we doing this race? Well we are 2 groups of friends brought together by one very special person – Oksana McDowell who sadly lost her battle to cancer last year at the young age of 35 only 8 weeks after being diagnosed. For those of you who knew or met Oxy – words cannot describe or do justice to how wonderful and special she was. She would light up any room she entered with her infectious beautiful smile, she had a fabulous sense of humour and was great fun – especially some of the weird and wonderful theories and thoughts she had about things, she was the most selfless, giving and charitable person you could ever meet and she was also our best friend. When you’re best friend says she has something to tell you – the last thing you expect her to say is that she has cancer. You hear what she says but you aren’t really listening, your mind doesn’t want to believe it and you want to pretend it’s not true. You don’t know if to cry, be angry, be positive for her, ask “why her”, and over time you do all these things. We all genuinely believed that if anyone could fight this - it was our Oxy with her faith, positivity and determination but sadly it was too late and heaven was calling. Everyone knows someone who has either fought cancer or sadly lost their life to this awful disease and we want to raise as much money as possible to help kick cancer’s arse!!! Even if we can only help contribute towards only one person not having to feel and go through the pain and suffering we go through each day that passes without our wonderful Oxy we know we will have made a difference, so PLEASE donate If we could bring her back we would run the whole length and breadth of the country holding our bums, bellies and boobs as we run, but we know we can’t, but we have loads of great times and memories to look back on and are determined to do this together and make her proud. We love you Oksana McDowell and are doing this for you xxx !!!
