My Story
Cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. Here I am, 10 years "all clear" now!! What an emotional milestone that was when I was told by my Breast Care nurse that I'd reached the 10 year mark and no longer needed to be followed up and that I'd done so well. Suddenly I felt as though my security blanket had been taken away, alone. BUT, I was better now, and other people needed their help. I'm one of the lucky ones. Truly I am. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007, I gave the experts a year of my life and they gave me the rest of mine. I owe them so much. This is why I've always taken part in the Race For Life (even before I fell ill) and I will continue to take part to help raise awareness, and also to help raise money so research can continue in hopefully one day finding an end to this dreadful disease which affects sooo many people. I may not sprint round the course but I will get round...eventually! ?, this year with the company of my two fabulous daughters Amy and Ashleigh (who by the way are more accustomed to running!! ) You know, it's not the fact that it's a 5K run/walk, it's the coming together of so many women trying to make a change and that's an amazing feeling. Thank you for giving. Lots of love xxxx 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
