My Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. Cancer is happening right now, which is why I’m fundraising right now for Cancer Research UK. There’s no time to lose! My journey so far....... Tuesday 10th April 2018. As many of you know whatever happens in life I always have an annoying little saying ....everything happens for a reason being my favourite ....well after my recent stay in hospital I decided that I wanted to give something back. Could I top that charity breakfast from a couple of years ago, i dont think so and I'm certainly not braving the shave again, so I was waiting for my sign and I got it this morning. I'm going to climb a mountain. I think Paul was a bit shocked as I waited outside the bathroom this morning to tell him my news, but he's in and sometime later in the year it WILL happen! Now bearing in mind that after gaining a huge amount of weight during my chemo I could hardly climb the stairs and at the moment I couldn't get to the top of Green lane it is Paul's job to find us a smallish mountain and to get a training programme together for the summer to get me in shape! Another of my annoying sayings is if we all threw our problems in a pile we would soon grab our own back. Well I'm grabbing mine back with both hands and I'm going to raise as much money as I can for Cancer Research. I have wallowed in self pity for the last time. Too many of my friends and family are suffering from this vile disease so, sorry Mum close your eyes FUCK YOU cancer. Thank you for reading this and watch this space, Paul suggested Parbold Hill and that filled me with fear. Saturday 14th April. I had such a good day yesterday. Most of you will know my hobby is MSE and they run a sweep for the National. So in the morning a list went up of 40 numbers and you put your name next to a number. So I chose number 8, I often do. We used to live at number 8, its my sisters birthday etc. The idea then is that everyone pays £2 to the winners choice of charity, so I said to Paul I'm going to set up my just giving page for when I win later. Two minutes before the race a list goes up of which horse has which number and number 8 is........Tiger Roll. I have never enjoyed a national so much in my life, Paul had Carlingford Lough which didn't even get a mention unlike my winner. I had already been blown away by the number of people volunteering to do the climb with me but last night I was blown even further when I got a message from the friend who is one of the main reasons I am doing it, it read......I donated so you have to climb a mountain now. When I spoke to Jess yesterday afternoon and told her about the sweepstake and my just giving page she said post it on fb mum but I said no its too soon but I'm so pleased and proud at people's generosity that here it is for everyone to see. I find people's kindness amazing, the number of people who have donated more than their £2 is unbelievable. Again thank you to everyone who has donated and thank you to anyone who carried on reading this far. I will add details to the just giving page in the future once we know how, why, where and when. I hope Sunday is as good as Saturday was, enjoy your weekend. Wednesday 30th May. Preparations are going well for the pub quiz this Sunday. We have had some great prizes donated for the raffle and its looking as though it will be very well supported, a pub full of our friends and family......how can we beat that? Xx Friday 13th July Following the success of the charity pub quiz we will be holding another one at The Kicking Donkey on Sunday 21st October 2018. We have also set the date for our walk up Rivington Pike which we will do on Sunday 23rd September 2018. All money collected from both events will be added to this fund and hopefully we can smash the 3k target.
