My Story
I was incredibly naive (or hopeful) but I never thought Cancer would affect my family! However last year my family received the devastating news that not only my Aunt but my Mum had stage 4 lung Cancer. If that was not bad enough we were then told that in both cases it was terminal and all that could be done was to give them as much time as possible with some form of treatment. Two month later my Aunt sadly passed away after a short battle. We were all heartbroken....still are! She was an incredible lady, loved and missed by many! A year and a bit later and my Mum is still fighting and giving this everything she has. Having endured chemotherapy, radiotherapy, allergic reactions, a brain tumour and surgery she is still fighting. To say I’m proud is an understatement, she is the strongest person I have ever known. With this battle she has shown such courage, strength and determination and still insists on putting everyone and everything before herself. I am not usually one for putting such private matters for others to see, however, I have such admiration for anyone who is fighting or has fought this disease and think all that can be done to research and hopefully find cures is so important. It’s thanks to the research and work that is being done and the money so many people raise that has allowed my mum to still be fighting this disease a year and a half down the line, something I will always be eternally grateful for! To raise money for this cause myself and my sister in law will be running the Vitality Half Marathon in London on the 1st March 2020. Anything anyone can spare would be so much appreciated 😘
