February 56 miles

My Story

In 2009 my beautiful mum, Edith, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 44 years young. Ever since, there has been a huge void in not only my own life, but to all of Edith’s loved ones, nobody more so than my dad. Up to now, 13 years later, I’ve avoided any sort of painful reminders that she is no longer here with us, despite always wanting to honour her by doing some form of fundraising event. However, since having my two wonderful boys, Jordan (2) and Brodie (1), I want to set a better example to them, and celebrate her life and memory. This is a small action point towards doing that. It hurts beyond words knowing how incredible a gran she would have been to our boys, but I am grateful for the values she installed in me, that with some form of luck, I can hopefully pass on to them. I’m very aware that cancer impacts many of us, and we all have our own story to tell. I pray that one day others do not have to suffer like my mum and those who loved her dearly have. Thanks for taking the time to read my story. Derek Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I’m going to run 56 miles in February to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. Please show your support and help fund life-saving research by donating to my page.
