I'm walking at Shine Night Walk in the fight to beat cancer and in memory of those who have suffered from it - fight on!
In memory of
Prafulaben Manishanker Upadhyay
Sadly, just like many of you, I have lost loved ones to cancer including my grandmother (Prafulaben Upadhyay) and aunt (Niruben Jani). It is a terrible disease and I have witnessed first hand how it can ravage someone who is otherwise very healthy. Personally, this walk means a lot to me, as it is a walk in memory of all of our loved ones who have helped shape us as individuals. My grandmother was a second mum to me and to many of my cousins. She raised a large family (9 children) and ensured that all of her children and grandchildren were equipped with the right morals, values and principles to give them the best foundation in life and to be decent human beings. Despite suffering significantly at the hands of cancer she never once complained or showed her pain, perhaps a testament to her character and that of her generation. Although cancer has been able to take my grandmother and aunt's lives and indeed that of many others, this walk is a reminder of the positive legacy each of these amazing people have left on each of us and so their morals, values and principles continue to live on. I am hoping that this walk will raise funding and awareness to help in the research to fight cancer so that others can spend more quality time with their loved ones without it being cut short by cancer. Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. R.I.P. Ba and Niru feiba
