My Story
June this year marks by personal three year journey advanced breast cancerversary diagnosis. I’ve been cut (several times and more to come), poisoned and fried all to increase my survival of this horribly common disease. I have been extremely lucky in my recovery due to my supportive family and friends, already broadly healthy vegetarian diet and love of exercise. On discovery of my cancer I actively sought new activities and challenges to do. Mostly to distract me! First I took up roller derby (Spa Town Roller Derby) which renewed my love of skating. Second, after recovery from my fourth surgery I joined a new women’s only gym – Innovate Fitness (IF), Harrogate. I run Race for Life Pretty Muddy proudly with the most awesome and supportive warrior women from IF. I have not managed to fit in any running training particularly yet to help me get round the Pretty Muddy course!!! I am hoping your donations will persuade me to do this! However, I will do this race because actually I want to celebrate my cancer journey so far and support others in researching this horrible disease. Hopefully impacting lives of those facing a diagnosis and then the rollercoaster of treatment. So cancer is unbelievably common - 1 in 2 people apparently facing a diagnosis in their lifetime! It’s happening to people and family you know. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please consider sponsoring me.
