My Story

This year will mark the ten year anniversary since I lost my gorgeous husband and Cari’s lovely Dad Dan to a brain tumour, aged just 35. Cari had just had her third birthday when she lost her Daddy. His illness lasted approximately 18 months from diagnosis to us losing him. The treatment he received gave us more time together and the chance for us to get married. However, unfortunately for us as a family, Dans brain tumour began growing again only months after finishing his radiotherapy. A common trait is once regrowth starts, the tumours come back much more aggressive, and there was little treatment options left. This illness is completely underfunded, and receives less than 1% of all national funding. Brain tumours are still responsible for killing more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer. I will be walking a marathon over 2 weekends in September, the first half marathon will be on 5th September (our 11th wedding anniversary), and then again the folllowing weekend on 12th September (the day before the 10 year anniversary). I absolutely could not let this anniversary pass without doing something positive. So please if you can help us in any small way, this will be completed in Dans memory, and also in the hope that other families do not have to go through the heartache we did and still do every day ❤️ Our lives may have been put on hold at the moment, but cancer hasn't stopped. To make sure people are still getting the support they need, I'll be taking part in Shine Walk Your Way. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now!
