My Story
I was one of the lucky ones, I was 38 before anyone in my family died from Cancer, I felt like I must have had a blessed life because I had known and loved some special people in the past whose lives had been devastated by cancer. But then it took my dad in a matter of months, then you find out about more and more friends being diagnosed and that blessed life isn't that blessed and reality hits home. Then a very very special person is diagnosed with a brain tumour and he fought it so strongly and bravely for years and years and we'd kept life full of fun and special days but it had the last laugh and eventually took him from us too soon, he was far too young and had so much life to live. Then our Caxton Theatre family lost another lovely, kind soul to a brain tumour too, cancer never seems to give in. And so it continues I now have another special family member fighting this vicious illness. We can't let it keep destroying our lives. We all know cancer is happening right now, which is why I'm taking part in a Race for Life 5k to raise money and save lives. 1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
