Portsmouth Pretty Muddy 5k 2019

My Story

Cancer is devastating, turning the lives of many individuals and families upside down on a daily basis. Affecting as many as 1 in 2 people in their lifetime cancer can seem completely unstoppable, ripping the heart and soul out of those we love, and sadly we are no exception to these awful statistics. With our family suffering the heartbreaking loss of very well loved members of our family and friends, we have decided to take part in this year’s Race For Life. On Saturday 6 July 2019 at 10.30am we will be tackling the mud pits in the ‘Portsmouth Pretty Muddy 5k Obstacle Course’ at Southsea Common. We first took part in Race For Life back in 2009 when our beloved Mum and ‘Nanny Cant’ lost her long struggling battle with cancer. In August of that year we said our heartbreaking goodbyes and vowed to do all we could to help wipe out this awful disease. With a very dear and close family friend currently fighting his battle, Mike Brown we hope to do all we can to raise even more awareness and even more funds for the good of research and hopefully a cure for this life shattering disease. Taking part also in memory of Susan Dear who sadly lost her fight in 2018 and Geoff Drew who lost his battle earlier this year as well as many many others we hope you feel proud and willing to support us in any way possible. It really is true that ‘every little helps’ and as Cancer Research UK say themselves ‘We don't break records. We beat cancer’. We, a Mother and Daughter, just want to do our bit and would love to have you standing by our side and supporting us and this incredible cause in any way you possibly can. Thank you for taking the time to visit our page, with all our love and best wishes for good health and much happiness, Sheila Greenfield and Debbie Russell 🙏🏻✨
