Shine Night Walk - Half Marathon
Sat 23 Sep 2017
In memory of
Chris Woodfield
On 23rd September I will be completing the Shine walk - a 26.2 mile walk round the streets of London in memory of my phenomenal brother Chris who passed away in April following the most courageous battle with cancer. I took on this challenge a few years ago and it be will no surprise for me to say that Chris was my biggest cheerleader and motivator. This year I am walking with my mum, aunty and cousin - together we will walk proudly in memory of Chris, my Uncle Brian and cousin Sarah who were all taken too soon. Chris really was an awesome brother and best friend, he was so inspiring in so many ways to so many people and I miss him every single day. I am so incredibly proud to be his sister and for his fierce bravery he showed throughout his treatment never once complaining. I know we are not alone in this experience and the thought and knowledge that so many people I know have gone through, are going through or will go through exactly the same experience as we have makes me so very sad. Cancer is a sneaky, sneaky disease and I for one have had enough of it! Only through charities like Cancer research do we stand a chance of stamping out it once and for all. Each year Cancer Research UK’s scientists get closer to beating cancer, and they’ve helped double survival rates in the last 40 years. But we can’t stop there. Only with our continued support can they turn this research into breakthroughs that save millions of lives. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work, so please sponsor me now. Donating through this page is simple, fast and totally secure. CAUSE
Bowel cancer
Over the past 40 years there's been dramatic progress in tackling bowel cancer and half of people diagnosed will now survive for at least 10 years. But with bowel cancer still claiming around 43 lives each day, more research still needs to be done. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.
